This four week series is the perfect place to begin your yoga practice. Classes are kept small to ensure individual attention. We will go slowly, breaking down the components of each pose, and offer modifications and variations to suit your body and needs. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, which is not always possible in a regular group class setting.
We will cover the major standing, balancing, seated, and reclining postures of the Hatha Yoga system. You will learn an introduction to yogic philosophy, breathing, and yoga etiquette.
Every body is different, and abilities and preferences vary. After this series you will know what type of classes will serve you best.
Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing yoga practice that includes supported, comfortable postures that are primarily on the floor.
A restorative yoga sequence typically involves only five or six poses, aided by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Participants are positioned into postures in a manner which allows one to completely let go and release all tension.
Restorative poses include gentle twists, seated forward folds, hip opening poses and gentle backbends. The pose and body is supported comfortably with various yoga props (bolsters, blankets, and blocks) during Restorative Yoga.
From the relaxed state of this Restorative Yoga practice we will flow into a guided rest and meditative state known as Yoga Nidra.
Yoga Nidra means "yogic sleep.” This yogic practice focuses on moving from the waking state of consciousness, through the dreaming state, and into the state of dreamless sleep while remaining awake. Yoga Nidra is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading one's awareness through many levels of mental processes to a state of supreme stillness leading to insight, bringing an incredible calmness, quietness, and clarity.
Set an intention, then allow the vibrations of gongs, crystal alchemy singing bowls, and other exotic overtone instruments to embrace your body at a cellular level. This induces deep relaxation and harmonic entrainment which clears obstructions, elevates consciousness, and sets the foundation for healing and clarity to occur.
Chakras are a part of the Subtle Body or Psychic Anatomy, which influence our body, our emotions and behaviors. As energy centers of the body, we need to have them spinning freely an unobstructed. Learn how in this workshop.
In this workshop, you will learn about the seven major chakras and their states of consciousness from the base of the spine to the crown of the head and beyond.
We will practice techniques to open and balance them, and learn about foods, essential oils, sounds, and mantras that correspond and activate each chakra.
Through Vinyasa Yoga we will employ asana, mudras (hand postures), and chanting to bring your psychic energies into harmony.
