Yvonne Suzuki Licopoli

"E-RYT 500, YACEP, Teaching Advanced Classical Yoga"

Yvonne began studying yoga and became a vegetarian in 2002 as a means of achieving optimal health and wellbeing. After having studied with world renowned teachers, Yvonne met her guru, Sri Dharma Mittra in 2007, who remains her most influential teacher.

She completed her first yoga teacher training at YogaWorks in 2007, followed by Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training with David Swenson. She completed the 500 hour (2010) and 800 hour (2013) Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Dharma Mittra.

Yvonne is certified in Thai Yoga Massage through Lotus Palm Institute in Montreal, and studied Gong Yoga of Holistic Resonance with Grand Gong Master, Don Conreaux.

She completed the Plant Based Nutrition Certificate Program of T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies in 2017.

Yvonne’s classes are a challenging breath aligned flow of classical asana (postures), sequenced in a manner to gently open the body, intensify healing prana (life force, energy), release blockages (emotional and physical), leading to increased strength and flexibility. Modifications for most postures are offered, as well as invitations to move into more advanced variations.

Yoga is a way of life. It is Yvonne’s belief that to achieve yoga, as with achieving success in anything, practice and self study must be an immutable priority.

Yin Yoga IN STUDIO
with Yvonne Suzuki Licopoli
1 hour and 15 minutes
This style of yoga targets the deep connective tissue and the fascia which surrounds muscle fibers. This is a passive practice where mainly supine postures are held for three to five minutes. Students are encouraged to use their breath to enter into meditation while holding the pose, often with the aid of props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks. The stretching should not be painful. Yin differs from Restorative Yoga in that there is stretching involved in order to strengthen and lengthen the muscles and connective tissue to improve joint mobility and release trauma in the body whereas Restorative Yoga’s focus is on relaxation and letting go. In Yin Yoga you are encouraged to relax into the pose, allowing gravity to take you deeper. You may wear socks and a long sleeve tee shirt and other comfortable clothes. This class is suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners.

Classical Yoga Masterclass (Int/Adv) IN STUDIO
with Yvonne Suzuki Licopoli
2 hours
This two hour advanced Dharma Yoga inspired class begins with pranayama to focus and calm the mind. Next, gentle stretches lead to sun salutations, flowing into a challenging series of standing and balancing postures guided by slow and steady ujjayi breath and a lively playlist to keep energy levels up. This masterclass includes inversions, arm balances, hip openers and other advanced postures, some held for longer periods than most classes allow, so that transformation can occur. In this longer format, there is time to workshop the more difficult poses. This class engages your entire body and will strengthen your practice. Modifications are available for many advanced postures. RYTs receive 2 hours CE credit with Yoga Alliance for this class. This class is not suitable for beginners.
